A Guide To Setting up Slack Integration For Your Community

As a Community Manager or Administrator, you wear many hats. With such a busy schedule, emails can quickly become cluttered, sometimes you might even miss job opportunities from Propel, especially the time-sensitive ones.

Designed to be non-intrusive, our dedicated Slack bot delivers updates directly to your Slack channel. Rest assured, notifications and messages will be contained within a designated channel and not spread across your workspace.

Setting it up is quick and easy. Follow the steps below to integrate Propel with your Community’s Slack workspace and start receiving updates directly and in real time!

Step 1: Choose or Create a Slack Channel

The first step is to create a Slack channel for Propel updates. You can also decide to use an existing job channel if this will be more convenient for you.

Step 2: Login & Access Admin Dashboard!

Login to your dashboard by either visiting the Propel Community page or using your unique community link. Then, navigate to ‘Administration’ and select the ‘Integrations’ option.

Step 3: Select Slack Integration

Once you select the integrations option, you’ll be redirected to a page that shows a list of available and soon-to-be-launched integrations that are available for your community. Click on the ‘Learn more’ button under the Slack integration option.

Step 4: Begin / Authorize the Integration

Be sure to read all the information on how the bot will be used as well as its benefits to your community. Once done, select ‘Connect app’ to begin or watch the demo for a step-by-step guide before proceeding. It is important to read the information on this page as it also details how to get your webhook URL if you’re unsure of how to.

Once you’re done reading, get your channel web hook and paste it in the box that will pop up when you click on the connect app button and select ‘ Connect’

Voila! Your integration is complete. Your community will receive jobs, opportunities, and useful updates as soon as they are posted.
